Gyeongsang National University
Prof. Kim is currently a professor at the Division of Applied Life Science of Gyeongsang National University since 2001, Korea. Before joining the Gyeongsang National University, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Keasling lab at the Department of Chemical Engineering of University of California at Berkeley. He completed his Ph.D. in the fermentation biotechnology laboratory at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He has focused on the metabolic engineering of microorganisms; particularly, he has contributed on the metabolic redesign of microorganisms for mass production of isoprenoids. His research group is highly interested in the engineering of synthesis pathway of IPP/DMAPP, which consists of numerous valuable isoprenoids. As of August 2018, he published over 100 scientific articles, 73 patents, and gave over 200 scientific presentations at the international conferences and the invited seminars. He has been awarded two ministerial citations in 2014 and 2017 for his scientific achievements and Wo-Jae academic certificate 2013.
