Prof. Jeong is currently an associate professor at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) since 2008. In 2001, he received PhD degree at KAIST under the supervision of Prof. Sang Yup Lee, and he worked in Prof. George Georgiou lab (Univ. of Texas at Austin, USA) as a Post-doctoral fellow and Research associate. In this period, his research was focused on antibody engineering and production in bacterial hosts. After joining KAIST as a faculty, his research has focused on the (i) protein engineering including industrial enzymes, antibody, protein scaffolds and (ii) engineering of bacterial hosts (mainly Corynebacterium glutamicum and Escherichia coli) using systems/synthetic biology tools towards enhanced production of value-added biochemical and protein therapeutics. As of October 2018, he published over 90 scientific articles and 15 patents. In 2012, he has been awarded Young Asian Biotechnologist Prize 2012 from Society for Biotechnology, Japan (SBJ).
