Namil Lee is a postdoctoral researcher in Systems and Synthetic Biology Lab (SSBL), Korea Advanced Institute Science and Technology (KAIST), Republic of Korea. Namil Lee majored in biological engineering and received B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from KAIST. During the Ph.D. he studied system biology for understanding the regulatory mechanism underlying secondary metabolite production of Streptomyces and synthetic biology to modify the organism for enhancing secondary metabolite production. During the Ph.D. course, he collaborated with research teams in University of California San Diego (USA), Technical University of Denmark (Denmark), and Novo Nordisk Foundation (Denmark). Currently, his research focuses on awakening the silent secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters of Streptomyces via coculture and discovery of novel secondary metabolites
