Prof. Seung Soo Oh graduated summa cum laude with his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials from UCSB in Prof. H. Tom Soh’s group in 2012, and his doctoral research focused on high-throughput generation of multi-functional aptamers. He continued his research career as a postdoc under the guidance of Prof. Craig J. Hawker, focusing on the synthesis of nucleic acid/polymer hybrids for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Between 2014 and 2016, he worked as a research fellow with Prof. Jack W. Szostak at Harvard Medical School and developed ribozymes with novel catalytic functions. From 2016, he has been an Assistant Professor at POSTECH, and his lab explores generation of novel riboswitches and ribozymes. He has received a number of awards including the MRS Graduate Student Award and the Young Investigator Award from Baxter International Corp.
