Dr. Joo is senior researcher at Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Daejon, Republic of Korea. Before joining KRICT, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at University of Toronto. He received his BS degree in chemical engineering from Yonsei University in 2002 and completed his PhD in chemical engineering from Seoul National University in 2011. His research interests lie in the development of novel biocatalytic routes for greener production of biochemicals through enzyme engineering and metabolic engineering. In particular, he is interested in discovery and engineering of microbial enzymes for the design of novel biosynthetic pathways.
