Prof. Kim is currently a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, Chungnam National University (CNU) of Korea. He earned his PhD in 1996 at Seoul National University. From 1997 to 2000, he did his postdoctoral research at Genentech and Stanford University. After working for Roche Diagnostics as a Principal Scientist and then a Research Director from 2000 to 2003, he returned to Korea to join the present positon at CNU. His research is focused on engineering and harnessing the molecular machinery of cells in the context of synthetic biology.
