Prof. Seo is currently an assistant professor at the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering of Seoul National University (SNU) in Korea since 2016. Before joining SNU, he was a post-doc in the Palsson lab at the Department of Bioengineering of University of California San Diego (UCSD). He completed his Ph.D. in the molecular diagnostics and synthetic biology laboratory at the Department of Chemical Engineering of POSTECH. He envisions his career to address various energy, environment, and healthcare issues by combining systems biology (for genome-scale understanding of biological systems) and synthetic biology (for development of novel synthetic biology tools and for construction and optimization of biological systems) approaches. His research group is interested in analyzing and engineering various microorganisms such as probiotic E. coli, Corynebacterium, Methanotroph, Yarrowia/Pichia, and some marine bacteria. As of Oct 2018, he published 33 scientific articles and 7 patents. He has been awarded a young scientist from Seoul National University (SNU) in 2016 and Miwon Commercial in 2017.
