Dr. Chow is currently a senior research fellow at the Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SYNCTI) in National University of Singapore (NUS). He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Ph.D. in the field of directed evolution and engineering of enzymes for various biomedical applications. Upon the completion of his Ph.D., he received the A*STAR International Fellowship (AIF) for his post-doctoral training in Dale Poulter’s lab at the University of Utah, focusing on the mechanistic studies of cyclization in terpene synthases. Before joining SYNCTI, he also worked in Dr. Uttam Surana’s lab in IMCB on the metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the production lactone food flavors. His current research in SYNCTI revolves around the screening and engineering of lipases for use in the processing of crude oil derived from plants.
