Dr. Ling is Research Assistant Professor and Pincipal Investigator at the National University of Singapore Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (NUS SynCTI). He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2006. Dr. Ling’s research interests lie in engineering microbes for novel functionalities including strain tolerance, biochemical production and therapeutics. Specifically, he engineered transporters and transcription factors in yeast for the improvement of tolerance against hydrocarbons and engineered yeast to overproduce fatty acids and their derivatives. He has authored and co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles.
