Hiroya Tomita received his B.S. from Kyoto University, and M.S. and Ph.D. from Department of Synthetic Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, Japan. He completed his Ph.D. thesis focusing on the mechanisms of coenzyme A biosynthesis in the Archaea under the supervision of Professor Haruyuki Atomi. He is working in the Hakko Laboratory directed by Professor Yasuo Ohnishi in the University of Tokyo as a post-doc supported by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). His study focuses on discovering and engineering unusual enzymes involved in natural product biosynthesis.
