Prof. Ichihashi is a Professor in Graduate School of Arts and Science, Komaba Institute of Science, Universal Biology Institute, the University of Tokyo. Ichihashi obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Tokyo and worked as postdoctoral fellow, assistant professor, and associate professor in the Osaka University, where he construct an in vitro RNA replication system capable of Darwinian evolution for the first time. He moved to the University of Tokyo as a professor in 2019 and started to reproduce possible evolutionary process in a laboratory from simple molecular system to complex living systems.
