Prof. Jin is currently a full professor at the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) since 2011. Before joining the USTC, he did his postdoctoral researches in the Gerard Wong lab at the Department of Bioengineering of University of California Los Angeles. He completed his Ph.D. in the physical chemistry and the polymer physics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has focused on the development of image-based high throughput techniques that can be applied in microbiology and synthetic biology, he has contributed on the understanding of microbial motilities and biofilms formation. His research group is highly interested in the combination of optogenetics manipulation and adaptive microscopy to develop new tools that can be used to select single cells in a high throughput manner
