Shengying Li, Ph.D., Professor, State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, Microbial Technology Institute, Shandong University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biology and master’s degree in Microbiology from School of Life Sciences, Xiamen University in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Department of Medicinal Chemistry, College of Pharmacy at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA in 2009. From 2010-2012, he performed his postdoctoral research in Prof. David H. Sherman’s laboratory in Life Sciences Institute, University of Michigan. From 2012-2018, he served as the professor and the founding Director of Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Synthetic Biology at Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers on a number of prestigious scientific journals such as Nat. Chem., Nat. Commun., PNAS, and JACS. He serves as the Associate Editor for BMC Biotechnology and the Editorial Board Member for Journal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology
